About Kate

Kate Thornley portrait photo
My passion for art and my inner world centres on my own life experiences. I became a spiritual director as I was seeking more meaning in my life. Over four years of studying spiritual direction I learned about my inner world and my soul. I learned to listen to my soul. Through my studies I discovered art therapy and the importance of retreating for our well-being.

Linking spiritual direction, art therapy and retreats, I found profound benefits for all parts of my life. I now want to share these passions of mine with others who would like to welcome them into their lives, to seek the journey of where these unique modalities lead. To be open to the unknown, as mystery has many gifts in our lives.

One of my favourite quotes is that “if you don’t transform your pain you will transmit it”. This basically means that we all need to do our own inner work to be the people we are meant to be. That is happy and well-adjusted, so when life throws you curve balls you are able to stand strong.

Creativity has become my wellness that I incorporate in all parts of my life. I would love you to welcome creativity into your life!

Kind words

“Katharine ran a retreat for us, looking at ‘Spirituality and the Arts’. On this ecumenical retreat, Katharine provided insightful and fun activities for the whole group which provided us with the much needed time for reflection and renewal. Katharine was friendly, pastoral and helpful with all who attended and we can’t wait to invite her back again to learn from and engage with such a talented artist and spiritual director.”
