Frequently
asked questions

Do you have to be part of a faith community to engage with Spiritual Direction?

I see people from many faiths however I am more than happy to engage/companion with people who are seekers in our world. People who are exploring their spirituality.

Do I need to be artist to be engaged in Art Therapy?

I welcome all people with varying degrees of art making ability and also people without any prior experience. Art making is a great and fun way of tapping into the unconscious which only wants what is good for you.

What will I gain from going on a retreat?

I am always surprised by retreatants at the end of a retreat, when they also surprised and grateful for the many learnings they are taking with them. A retreat is such a valued experience for many people.

Kind words

“Shalom has had a very busy month of hosting various groups so it was lovely to finish off a busy time with this gentle, quiet retreat. A big thank you is in order to our generous and skilled facilitator, Kate Thornley who led these lucky women throughout this weekend about living in the present. Such a lovely reflective weekend was gratefully received, …where prayers became art and art made connections within and became prayer, with others and with God.”
