Gratitude is a way to be in our busy and often stressful world. It is a simple process, if used daily, gratitude will give our mind, body and spirit a new way of engaging in our world.
It may sound simple but simplicity is the key to being grateful. If you welcome gratitude into your day it will bless you in so many ways.
We can be grateful for at least 5 things a day, even if your world is not going well for you at the present time. The 5 things that suggest that you be grateful are:
1. A safe country to live in.
2. Fresh air to breathe.
3. A good night’s sleep.
4. Food.
5. Friends or family.
At a retreat many years ago the facilitator in our “gratitude session” suggested that we work up to 50 things to be grateful over a week. It may sound daunting but if you break down your day you will be amazed at all the things that you are and can be grateful for. Some of things things I have added to my gratitude list are the following:
6. Safe travels to and from work.
7. A good meal.
8. My pets.
9. The fresh air that I breathe in.
10. My work.
11. My art making.
12. Connecting with colleagues.
13. Swimming in the ocean.
14. Going to a drive in the country.
15. Reading a book – good eye sight- glasses to help me read.
